"Immigrants: we get the job done" -- Lin-Manuel Miranda, Hamilton
Johann Hennrich Reck, the son of Anna Maria Seltzer and Johann Jacob Reck,
was born in Freinsheim 04 Jun 1743 and christened 09 Jun 1743. (Hennrich is the spelling of his name used most often in his children's
birth records.) I can't find a marriage record for him, but his wife's first name was Anna Christina.
Anna Christina and Johann Hennrich had eleven children:
- Georg Daniel born 18 Aug 1765, christened the same day;
- Johann Jacob born 03 Jul 1767, christened the same day.
Probably the Jacob Reck who married Catharina Charlotta Seltzer,
daughter of Jacob Seltzer, on 27 Jun 1789;
- Maria Catharina born 15 Jul 1769, christened the same day. Married Reichard Hartmayer 17 Feb 1789.
They had five children christened in Freinsheim before the beginning of the records gap in October 1798 and at least one child during the
records gap, Elisabetha who died and was buried 11 Nov 1827.
Reichard died and was buried in Freinsheim 23 Dec 1828;
- Johann Georg born 13 Jul 1772, christened 14 Jul 1772.
Possibly the Johann Georg "Rek" who married
Anna Elisabeth "Kopprath", the daughter of Andreas Kopp, 11 Sep 1793;
- Susanna Christina born 26 Jul 1774, christened 27 Jul 1774;
- Susanna Elisabetha born 02 Oct 1775, christened 03 Oct 1775.
Probably the Susanna Elisabetha Reck who married Philipp Woeres 06 Jul 1795;
- Johann David born 22 Sep 1777, christened 23 Sep 1777;
- Johann Hennrich born 20 Mar 1779, christened 21 Mar 1779;
- Catharina Margaretha born 11 Apr 1783, christened 12 Apr 1783;
- Anna Maria born 11 Feb 1786, christened 12 Feb 1786; and
- Johann Peter born 08 Sep 1788, christened 09 Sep 1788.
The younger children would likely have been married and had their own children during the period of revolutionary French rule.
There are no Protestant marriage records for Freinsheim between July 1802 and December 1815,
and no Protestant christening records between October 1798 and December 1815.
I found it almost impossible to make connections between the Recks resident in Freinsheim before
1799 and those resident after 1815.
