Johanna Neunzehnhöltzer and Johann Jost Engel
Johann Jost Engel was christened in Freinsheim 08 Jun 1727, the son of Elisabetha and Johann Philip Engel. On 07 Apr 1750 he married Johanna Neunzehnhöltzer, born 27 Oct 1731 and christened in Freinsheim 04 Nov 1731. She was the daughter of Maria Margaretha and Johann Arnold Neunzehnhöltzer.
Johann Jakob and Anna Margaretha had ten children, at least one of whom died young:
Besides Johann Jacob's and Johann Worner's marriages mentioned above, I found two other marriage records that might be related to Johanna and Johann Jost's children. One is for Maria Elisabetha Engel, the daughter of Jost Engel, who married Jost Henrich Weber in Meckenheim 11 Feb 1782. Jost Henrich was the son of Johann Philipp Weber. Meckenheim is 13 km SSE of Freinsheim. It's possible that the bride was Anna Elisabetha Engel born 16 Mar 1763. The couple had seven children born in Freinsheim 1783-1796. The mother's name is referred to as either Maria Elisabetha or Elisabetha in the birth records.
The second marriage took place in Freinsheim 20 Jan 1786 when Anton Kreter, son of Jacob Kreter, married the daughter of "Justus" Engel. The bride's name was not given in the marriage record. However, Anton and Elisabetha Kreter had a daughter Catharina born 15 Sep 1787. She was christened in Freinsheim 16 Sep 1787 and died the same day. Elisabetha Engel Kreter may be either Anna Elisabetha Engel (assuming she didn't marry Jost Henrich Weber) or her younger sister Elisabeth born 12 Aug 1769.
Note: Most of the information I have on the Werner, Engel and Sohn families in Freinsheim from the late 17th to the mid 19th centuries came to me in 2004 courtesy of Siegfried Barth, archivist with the Verbandsgemeinde Freinsheim (Freinsheim Community Association). Where possible I've supplemented it with church records available at FamilySearch.org. Many thanks to Herr Barth and also to my late granduncle Robert Werner, who made the first contact and then recruited my help because he and Herr Barth had no languages in common.
