Anna Maria Spielmann and Johannes Engel
Anna Maria Spielmann and Johannes Engel married twice. They had a Protestant ceremony in Freinsheim on 05 Jun 1832 and a Catholic ceremony the next day in Dackenheim.
Anna Maria was almost certainly the daughter of Eva Magdalena Spreng and Georg Hubert Spielmann born in Dackenheim sometime between June 1800 and June 1806. I found baptismal records in Dackenheim for seven of Eva Magdalena and Georg Hubert's children, four baptized 1792-1799 and three baptized 1808-1814. They were in fact the only couple having children baptized or christened under the name Spielmann in Dackenheim during these year. I would guess that Georg Hubert Spielmann is the Georg Spielmann who was chosen as Bürgermeister in 1819.
Johannes is trickier. If he was born in Dackenheim - which we don't know - he would have to be the grandson or perhaps great-grandson of Anna Clara Oberliesin and Johann Jacob Engel.
An 1836 legal notice indicates that Johannes is not the sibling of Philipp Engel and Magdalena Engel, wife of Thomas Siegmayer. He may, however, have been the chief guardian of their two younger siblings, Jacob and Catharina.
Anna Maria and Johannes had four children. Their sons were christened as Protestants, while their only daughter was baptized as a Catholic:
The older Johannes was referred to as Johannes II Engel in his fourth child's christening record in 1843, in his son Heinrich's buried record in 1845 and in his own burial record. He died and was buried in Dackenheim 28 Aug 1848.
I have no further information on Anna Maria Spielmann.
Anna Maria Engel and Philipp Gammay
Anna Maria Engel born 1834 and baptized as a Catholic may be the Maria Anna Engel who married Philipp Gammay in a Catholic ceremony in 1852 - twice. The first ceremony was held 15 Feb 1852 in Dackenheim, the second 19 Feb 1852 in Grünstadt. Although both marriage records give the bride's name as Maria Anna, of her six children baptismal records four refer to her as Anna Maria, one as A Maria and one as Maria. All of the children were baptized as Catholics in Grüstadt in the years 1852-1862.
Carolina Betz and Johannes Engel
Johannes born 1843 married Carolina Betz in Grünstadt 14 Aug 1867. Carolina was the daughter of Sibylla Margaretha Stumpf and Carl Betz born in Grünstadt 10 May 1844 and christened there 19 May 1844. Carolina and Johannes had two sons, both christened in Grünstadt: Johann Christian born 12 Oct 1867, christened 24 Nov 1867, and Georg born 21 Nov 1869, christened 16 Jan 1870. The length of time between the births and the christenings - six weeks in the first case, eight weeks in the second - makes me wonder if the family didn't actually live in Grünstadt.
