Elisabetha Engel and Johann Valentin Fett

Johann Valentin Fett married Elisabetha Engel in Freinsheim on 16 Jul 1823. The marriage record doesn't give the names of any of the couple's parents. However, Valentin was almost certainly the Valentin Fett who was the son of Georg Christoph Fett and Johanna Sophia Becker. I don't have a birth record for him, but he's listed as one of Georg Christoph's heirs in a foreclosure notice in 1826. At the time he was working as a baker (like his father) in Freinsheim. I would guess that the absence of a birth records indicates that he was born sometime between the start of the records gap in October 1798 and 1805.

Elisabetha Engel may have been born during the records gap, but she could also be daughter of Maria Christina Heck and Johann Woerner Engel born 25 Oct 1797 and christened in Freinsheim 27 Oct 1797. The daughter of Maria Sibilla Seltzer and Johann Jacob Engel born 03 Apr 1791 and christened in Freinsheim 06 Apr 1791 is also a possibility, but I think a less likely one considering that Valentin would have been at least eight years younger.

Valentin and Elisabetha had seven children, of whom three died young:

Valentin Fett, baker, was named as the secondary guardian of the two minor daughters of Christina Elisabetha Engel and Ludwig Fuhrmann in a legal document in 1833 and again when the girls were listed as the granddaughters of Susanna Elisabetha Korn and Elias Fuhrmann in a legal document in 1834.

Valentin and Elisabetha's third child, Barbara, married twice, once to Philipp Bloch in Freinsheim on 24 Jan 1847 and once to Conrad Rupp on 04 Dec 1855.

I wasn't able to find any further information on Johannes born 1831 or Elisabetha born 1834.

Charlotta may be the Charlotta Fett whose daughter Barbara was christened in Freinsheim on 26 Apr 1857. She's definitely the Charlotta Fett who died and was buried in Freinsheim seven months later on 24 Nov 1857. I don't know what happened to the infant Barbara.

Elisabetha died and was buried in Freinsheim 21 Oct 1850. I don't have any further information on Valentin.
