Henrietta Zachritz and Philipp Messinger

Henrietta Zachritz (Zachriz, Zacharitz, Zachariz) married Heinrich Messinger in Weisenheim an Sand 12 Jan 1837. Weisenheim am Sand's 3-4 km ENE of Freinsheim. Because the marriage took place there instead of in Freinsheim, the bride's and groom's birth dates are given on the marriage record.

Henrietta was the daughter of Katharina Schubarr and Ewald Heinrich Zachritz born 29 Jan 1815 and christened in Weisenheim am Sand 02 Feb 1815. Ewald doesn't seem to have been from Weisenheim himself, but he married Katharina there in 1805, had nine children with her, buried her in March 1822, remarried nine months later, had seven more children and finally died and was buried in Weisenheim in 1845. All of the Weisenheim records give the family's name as Zachritz or Zachriz. Zacharitz and Zachariz are Freinsheim innovations.

Henrietta may have had a daughter before her marriage to Heinrich. Helena Zachritz, daughter of Henrietta Zachritz, was christened in Weisenheim an Sand 02 Sep 1836. I don't have any further records for Helena.

Heinrich Messinger was the son of Barbara Schäfer and Philipp Messinger born 19 Oct 1809. I don't have a christening record for him, but all eight of his and Henrietta's shared children were born in Freinsheim, suggesting that he was from there originally and brought his bride back there.

Sadly, of the eight children, I have records showing that seven died in childhood:

I have no information on the older Heinrich, Henrietta or their daughter Catharina.
