Maria Salome Gimpel and Johann Peter Apresch

Johann Peter Apresch and Maria Salome Gimpel married in Freinsheim 30 May 1730. My best guess on Johann Peter is that he's the son of Anna Catharina and Georg Daniel Apresch christened 12 Feb 1708. I haven't been able to find any previous records for Maria Salome at all.

Maria Salome and Johann Peter had five children christened in Freinsheim:

Catharina Elisabetha and Johann Peter Apresch

Less than two years after Maria Salome's last child was born, a daughter was born to Elisabetha and Johann Peter Apresch and christened in Freinsheim. The couple had several more children over the next 16 years. In one christening record, Elisabetha is referred to as Catharina Elisabetha. Obviously her husband wasn't the Peter Apresch born in 1736, but to the best of my knowledge, the only other Peter Apresch living in Freinsheim was Maria Salome's husband - or possibly, her widower.

Catharina Elisabetha and Johann Peter had 11 children christened in Freinsheim, of whom at least two died young:

And Then...

I have almost no information as to what happened to any of these people. One of the scraps I have is a marriage record. Friederich Keppler, born in Mannheim, married the daughter of Peter Abresch (with a "b") in Heidelberg on 23 Oct 1778. The bride was born in Freinsheim, but I don't know her first name. (For reference, Heidelberg was the capital of the Palatinate until 1720, when the capital was moved to Mannheim. In 1777 the Elector Palatine Karl IV Theodor became Duke of Bavaria and moved the capital to Munich.)

I also know that from at least 1780 - possibly before that - through 1793, Herr Peter Abresch (again, with a "b") was the Amtschirurgus for Unteramt Freinsheim. Think of him as a district surgical officer who served along with the Amtphysikus, the district medical officer. The distinction was that surgeons did surgery, while other medical services were the realm of physicians. Peter was succeeded by Wendel Christiani in 1794.

I have this information from the Seiner Churfürstlichen Durchleucht zu Pfalz etc. Hof- and Staats-Kalender for the years 1780-1790 and the Seiner Churfürstlichen Durchleucht zu Pfalzbaiern Hof- and Staats-Kalender for the years 1791-1799. (Churfürst is an older spelling of Kurfürst, electorate.) Before 1780 comparable information would have been published in the Kurpfälzicher Hof- and Staats-Kalendar but I haven't been able to access the contents of this on-line.

In 1780 Peter Apresch born in in 1708 would already have been 72 years old. I'm guessing that the Amtschirurgus was his son, Peter Apresch born in 1736, who would have been 44.
