Sibilla Retzer and Johannes Sohn

Of the eight children christened in Freinsheim under the name Sohn between 1816 (i.e. after the records gap ended) and 1837, six were born to Sibilla Retzer and Johannes Sohn, one was born to Elisabeth and Johannes Sohn and one was born to Christina Retzer and Johann Georg Sohn. Marriage and death records reveal one more child born to Sibilla and Johannes as well as one more born to Georg, with the mother's name not mentioned.

Johannes Sohn may or may not have been the son of Margaretha and Peter Sohn born 03 Oct 1783 and christened in Freinsheim 08 Oct 1783. His mother may or may not have been Elisabetha Margaretha Schildbein.

I don't have any information as to Sibilla Retzer's family at all, and I don't have a marriage record for her and Georg.

What I do know Sibilla and Johannes had at least seven children:

There may have been an eighth child. A boy named Peter Sohn was christened in Freinsheim 06 Dec 1818. His parents' names were given as Elisabeth and Johann Sohn. I have no other records for this couple, so I have to wonder if Sibilla Retzer was actually Sibilla Elisabeth or Elisabeth Sibilla Retzer. If this is case, however, Peter born in 1818 would have been deceased by August 1824.

If Peter born in 1818 was born to a different couple entirely, then he may be the Peter Sohn who married Luisa Isserheld in Freinsheim 07 Feb 1837.

Johannes Sohn, husband of Sibilla Retzer, died and was buried in Freinsheim 25 Dec 1844. I don't know what happened to Sibilla.

At least two of Sibilla and Johannes' children, Catharina and Adam, emigrated to Baltimore, Maryland. Catharina emigrated with her husband and children in 1857. Adam emigrated earlier as his oldest child was born in Maryland 1855-1856.
