Anna Magdalena Ehrhardt and Johann Roland Stocke

Anna Magdalena Ehrhardt and Johann Roland Stocke were married in Freinsheim in April 1775. He was the son of Anna Catharina Besch and Johannes Stocke born 25 Jun 1754 and christened in Freinsheim 27 Jun 1754. I can't find a birth record for Anna Magdalena and am not sure how she's related to other Ehrhardts in Freinsheim.

Anna Magdalena and Johann Roland had two children that I know of. The interesting thing is that the children were seven years apart in age, quite a gap for this time. Christina Elisabetha was born 02 Feb 1777 and christened in Freinsheim 03 Feb 1777. Roland was born 03 Mar 1784 and christened in Freinsheim 04 Mar 1784.

1825: The Heiress of Roland Stocke's Assets

I don't have any further information on this family - or do I? In a legal notice published 07 Jan 1825 and included in the Intelligenzblatt des Rheinkreises, describes a request made by Heinrich Engel the younger and Heinrich Ehrhardt the younger, both farmers in Freinsheim. Engel is the the guardian and Ehrhardt the secondary guardian for Maria Katharina Haar, a minor without a trade who was the natural daughter of Maria Katharina Haar. The senior Maria Katharina Haar was formerly a servant employed by the farmer Roland Stocke but later on became unemployed. She was resident in Freinsheim.

The senior Maria Katharina Haar was a particular legatee (Partikular-Legatatin) of the assets of Roland Stocke. It's apparently on this basis that the guardians are requesting that the younger Maria Katharina Haar be considered as universal heir (Universar-Erbin) of the assets of Roland Stocke and that these assets be auctioned off on her behalf. The assets consist of nine lots of arable land and vineyards. Not all of the values are legible, but the total seems to have been worth approximately 1,000 florins.

It seems to me entirely possible that the younger Maria Katharina Haar may have been Roland's illegitimate daughter. This may have been common knowledge in Freinsheim, although not in and of itself having any weight in the courts. However since Roland appears to have died without legitimate heirs, the fact that Roland named the girl's mother as a particular legatee seems to have been sufficient grounds to acknowledge the relationship without naming it.

Catharina Haar, daughter of Catharina Haar, married Jacob Adam in Freinsheim 07 May 1840. Jacob was the son of Elisabetha Bayer and Hartmann Adam. Catharina and Jacob had two children. Their son Carl was christened in Freinsheim 04 Apr 1841 but died and was buried 03 Oct 1841. Their daughter Anna Elisabetha was christened in Freinsheim 13 Nov 1842. On 20 Jun 1865 she married Michael Bohnenberger, the son of Catharina Fischer and Carl Bohnenberger born in approximately 1838. Anna Elisabetha and Michael had four children born 1866-1873, although their third child died by the age of four.

So who was Roland Stocke? If Anna Magdalena Ehrhardt, Christina Elisabetha Stocke born 1777 and Roland Stocke born 1784 had all died, he might have been Anna Magdalena's widower, Johann Roland Stocke born 1754. However, it's also possible that he was the son, Roland Stocke born 1784. If the latter is the case, the younger Roland Stocke would not have been the father of either Johannes Stocke who married Anna Elisabetha Weilbrenner in Freinsheim 11 May 1824 or Heinrich Stocke who married Catharina Margaretha Binder in Freinsheim 21 Feb 1826. This would mean that these men were the sons of the younger Roland's cousins, Johann Hennrich and Johannes.
