The Stocke Family of Freinsheim

Maria Margaretha Neunzehnhöltzer and Johannes Stocke

The earliest record I have for the Stocke family in Freinsheim is the marriage of Maria Margaretha Neunzehnhöltzer and Johannes Stocke on 10 Jan 1736. According to the marriage record, Johannes was the son of Johannes. The record doesn't give the names of Maria Margaretha's parents, so it's difficult to establish a tie between her and other members of the Neunzehnhöltzer family in Freinsheim.

I found birth records for two children born to Maria Margaretha and Johannes. Catharina Magdalena was born 05 Oct 1836 and christened 07 Oct 1736. Johann Conrad was born and christened 28 Sep 1738 but died the same day.

Anna Catharina Besch and Johannes Stocke

Anna Catharina Besch and Johannes Stocke married in Freinsheim 05 May 1739. The marriage record gives Anna Catharina's father's name as Johann Georg. She may or may not have been the Anna Catharina Besch christened in Freinsheim 20 Feb 1718, the daughter of Susanna and Georg Besch. However, this christening record could also refer to a daughter of Anna Susanna Henninger and Georg Rudolph Besch, who married in Freinsheim 10 Jul 1701.

Because the marriage takes place eight months after the birth of Maria Margaretha's last child, it's possible that this was a second marriage for Johannes.

Anna Catharina and Johannes had 11 children, all christened in Freinsheim:

• Anna Christina born 07 Apr 1741, christened 09 Apr 1741;

• Jacobaea Scharlotta born 21 Apr 1746, christened 24 Apr 1746. Possibly the "Carolina" or Charlotta Stocke who married Johannes Orth in Freinsheim in November 1767 - see below;
• Susanna Philippina born 10 Oct 1749, christened 12 Oct 1749;
• Johannes born 10 Jun 1752, christened 11 Jun 1752. Probably the Johannes Stocke who married Anna Philippina Seltzer, daughter of Johann Henrich Seltzer, in Freinsheim in September 1773;
• Johann Roland born 25 Jun 1754, christened 27 Jun 1754. Married Anna Magdalena Ehrhardt in Freinsheim in April 1775;
• Maria Catharina born 29 Mar 1756, christened 31 Mar 1756. Married Wilhelm Ehrhardt in Freinsheim 23 Nov 1779;
• Anna Maria born 10 May 1758, christened 12 May 1758. Married Johann Heinrich Ehrhardt in Freinsheim 13 Jan 1784;
• Susanna Margaretha born 20 Sep 1760, christened the same day; and
• Susanna born 24 Jul 1762, christened 25 Jul 1762. Married Johannes Philipp in Freinsheim 27 Jun 1786. I don't have any further definitive information for this couple.

Johannes Stocke and ?

I found two 18th century marriage records for women whose father's name was Johannes Stocke but for whom I couldn't find birth records.

Christina Elisabetha Stocke married Johann Philipp Engel, named after his father, 19 Jul 1757. I have no further information on this couple.

Carolina Stocke married Johannes Orth in November 1767. Their children's christening records refer to her as Charlotta or, in one case, Anna Charlotta. She may or may not be Jacobaea Scharlotta described above.
