Catharina Margaretha Wagner and Johann Martin Engel

Johann Martin Engel, son of Anna Clara Oberliesin and Johann Jacob Engel, was christened in Dackenheim 30 Sep 1742. On 10 Jan 1769 he married Catharina Margaretha Wagner, daughter of Adam Wagner, in Dackenheim. My best guess on Catharina Margaretha is that she's the daughter of Maria Sybilla Elisabetha Schaefer and Johann Adam Wagner born 02 Apr 1747 and christened 04 Apr 1747 in Großkarlbach.

Catharina Margaretha and Johann Martin had eight children, two of whom died young:

• Johann Jacob christened 13 Sep 1770;
• Johann Georg christened 28 Apr 1774. Died and was buried in Dackenheim 07 Jun 1775;
• Catharina Magdalena christened 15 Jul 1776;
• Johann Martin christened 14 Jun 1779. Died and was buried in Dackenheim 20 Mar 1780;
• Johann Martin christened 20 Apr 1781;
• Hartmann christened 03 Mar 1784;
• Catharina christened 05 Jun 1786;
• Johann Henrich born 08 Feb 1790. No date is given for his christening, which may indicate that he was stillborn. Also his mother's name is absent from the birth record, which may indicate that he was deceased.

Johann Jacob born in 1770 is one of the two most likely possibilities for the Jacob Engel who married Christina Schwind.

Catharina Magdalena born in 1776 may or may not be the Catharina Magdalena Engel who married Friedrich Haab and who died and was buried in Dackenheim 17 Sep 1839. However, this could also be her cousin Catharina Magdalena born in 1780.

Johann Martin born in 1781 is one of the two possibilties for the Martin Engel who married Elisabetha (and?) Barbara Mäurer. (This couple continued to have children until 1826.) He's also one of four possibilities for the Martin Engel who married Margaretha Krebil and was living in Herxheim in 1827. Finally, he's one of the two possibilities for the Martin Engel, son of Martin Engel, who died and was buried in Freinsheim 10 Feb 1821. However, he can't be the last one and be either of the other two.

Hartmann born in 1784 may be the August Hartmann Engel who died and was buried in Dackenheim 23 Aug 1794. However I don't think this is likely, as a 10-year-old would usually have their father's name included in their burial record. I think August Hartmann is more like to be either Christian Hartmann Engel or a third party entirely.

Johann Henrich born in 1790 is one of the two most likely possibilities for the Heinrich Engel who married Catharina Stephan. However, obviously this isn't true if he was stillborn.

I have no further definitive information on Catharina Margaretha Wagner, her husband Johann Martin Engel or their daughter Catharina born 1786.
